چکیده

A 21-year-old man was admitted to our hospital in December 1986, with exophthalmos, conjunctival injection, mild abducens palsy, mild retrobulbar pain , and bruit on the right. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) revealed a dural AVM of the right cavernous sinus portion fed by meningeal branches of the right internal carotid artery (Fig. 1 A) and external carotid artery. The superior ophthalmic vein, which was markedly hypertrophic, was filled early in the arterial phase and drained into the facial vein. An embolization of the internal maxillary branch of the right external carotid artery was carried out with lvalon

Occlusion of arteriovenous malformations of the cavernous sinus via the superior ophthalmic vein.

The treatment of five patients with dural arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) of the cavernous sinus via the superior ophthalmic vein (SOV) is reported. The procedure was performed by transcutaneous puncture of the SOV under the guidance of real-time digital subtraction angiography. Complete resolution of the ocular symptoms was achieved in all cases. Angiograms after embolization showed complet...

Upper extremity arteriovenous dialysis fistula resulting in cavernous sinus arterialized blood flow.

Arterialized blood flow in the cavernous sinus may result from carotid-cavernous fistula or dural venous fistula. We encountered an unusual case of arterialized blood flow in the cavernous sinus on MR angiography resulting from arterialized retrograde venous flow in the internal jugular vein. This abnormal flow originated from an upper extremity dialysis arteriovenous fistula in the presence of...

Cerebrovascular occlusion by catheterization and embolization: clinical experience.

Intravascular occlusion by various catheterization techniques was used to treat 27 cases of carotid-cavernous fistula, giant intracavernous aneurysm, and cerebral or dural arteriovenous malformation. Several case reports are presented. The detachable balloon technique proved valuable in the treatment of traumatic carotid-cavernous fistula and giant aneurysm. Calibrated-leak balloon catheterizat...

Transvenous Embolization of Cavernous and Paracavernous Dural Arteriovenous Fistula through the Facial Vein: Report of 12 Cases

PURPOSE The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and safety of the transfacial venous embolization of cavernous or paracavernous dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF) in which approach via inferior petrosal sinus (IPS) was not feasible. MATERIALS AND METHODS We identified the cases of transfacial venous embolization of cavernous sinus (CS) or adjacent dural sinuses from the neuroint...

Localized congestive venous encephalopathy associated with cavernous dural arteriovenous malformation.

An unusual case of venous congestive encephalopathy associated with cavernous sinus dural arteriovenous malformation is reported. The parenchymal changes consisted of a well-demarcated area of hyperintensity on T2-weighted MR images involving the cortex and underlying white matter in the ipsilateral temporal and posterior frontal region. It showed mass effect and persisted for 2 years before ev...
